WhatsApp Group Calling Introduced with Beta Update

WhatsApp, the very popular messaging application has been on a streak to roll out new features to add to its service. The newest feature that is set to be made available to users around the world is Group Calling. This feature was announced at the Facebook F8 2018, which is the company’s annual developer meet.

At the moment, the feature has been rolled out to a very selective people who are running the Beta builds for both iOS as well as Android. As of now if you are running the software version 2.18.52 for iOS or 2.18.145+ for Android, you are likely to have the feature hidden in your software. Since the company is currently rolling out the update to a very select few, it is possible that you may be running the right version and still not have the feature activated yet.

That being said, how can you check if you do have the group calling feature activated? According to WABeta Info, the website that discovered this feature claims that the user simply needs to make a video call to someone, and if they have the feature, new buttons will show up on the screen during the call. The new button that will pop up is the “Add Participant” one, through which you will be able to add more people to the video chat.

As per the F8 2018 developer meet, the group video calling feature will allow up to 4 people to conference via video. The feature is expected to be rolled out to all users very soon very soon.
