WhatsApp introduces two new features in beta

The ability to message yourself and profile photos in the group chat is a part of WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.22.24.2 update. As seen in the screenshot, the popular instant messaging platform is putting ‘message yourself’ as the chat option. This means that users will be able to see their own names at the top of the contact list. The feature will allow users to note down things that are important or urgent as a reminder but they tend to write that information on WhatsApp instead of using any notepad apps.

Secondly, WhatsApp is releasing profile images of users in group chats. Currently, group chats only show the phone number of the user or their name. With profile images, members can recognize other individuals and that too with the same names. Users can hide their profile photos in group chats due to privacy issues. In this case, a default empty photo will appear.
