WhatsApp is reportedly extending its ‘My Contacts Except’ privacy feature to a user’s personal info that includes ‘last seen’, ‘profile photo’ and ‘about me’ options. The development comes from reliable publisher WABetaInfo. To date, the instant messaging platform only offers three options that include ‘everyone’, ‘my contacts’, and ‘nobody’.
WhatsApp is rolling out the latest feature for ‘last seen’ for specific beta users running the app on version 22.214.171.124. It will eventually be available for all WhatsApp users in the near future.
WhatsApp is working on ‘My Contacts Except’ feature for user’s personal info
As mentioned earlier, WhatsApp only lets users share their personal information with everyone, their contacts, and nobody. The ‘My Contacts Except’ privacy option is only available for sharing a status on WhatsApp. It lets a user select specific people from their contact list and exclude others from viewing their status.
The same ‘My Contacts Except’ feature for ‘last seen’ will enable the user to choose specific people from their contacts. This means that you can blacklist or exclude people from knowing the last time you were online on WhatsApp. It’s worth noting that if you disable ‘last seen’ access with the latest option for someone, you won’t be able to see their ‘last seen’ either. It’s likely that the same rule will also apply for profile photos and about me.
As seen in the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, the ‘My Contacts Except’ option is third in the sequence of options that include ‘Everyone’, ‘My Contacts’ and ‘Nobody’.
