WhatsApp has been continuously adding new and new features recently. It recently added the ability to send images without losing quality, a new AI sticker generator, and more.
Now, the most popular messaging app is adding two new features, both of which have been caught testing in WhatsApp beta versions: a new restore & transfer chats interface & new text formatting tools.
New Text Formatting Tools
As reported by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing new text formatting tools, expanding the existing basic text formatting tools. New text formatting tools are now available on the latest version of WhatsApp Desktop Beta.
WhatsApp first introduced text formatting with these tools – italics, bold, strikethrough, and monospace. WhatsApp will be adding these formatting tools in the future:
- Code Block
- Quote Block
- Bulleted Item
Take a look at these formatting tools in action:
As seen in the screenshots, these new text formatting tools work similarly to the existing formatting tools – by using these text formatting operators.
- ‘Code Block’
- > Quote Block
- – Bulleted Item
Using these operators along with the text you want to be formatted will result in the text being formatted in WhatsApp.
As this new feature has been caught testing on WhatsApp Desktop Beta, we can expect it to arrive soon in Android and iOS as Beta updates first.
New Restore & Transfer Chats Interface
As spotted by WABetaInfo on WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.23.18.4 update, WhatsApp is testing a new “Restroe or transfer chats” UI. Take a look at the screenshot showing it:
As you can see, the new interface brings a new convenient way for the users to restore or transfer the chat history – from Google Drive backup or Transfer directly from the old phone.
This feature might be available if you’re on the latest WhatsApp for Android Beta version.
