WhatsApp brought the Communities features last year, which brought various groups under one roof. The Communities comes with an announcement group and an admin-only group for announcements. It did not support a way for group members to reply or react to the announcements, but it is changing now, as WhatsApp is adding message reactions to the Community announcements group in the new beta update.
WABetaInfo spotted this feature on the beta testing on WhatsApp Beta for iOS version 23.2.0.75. It isn’t currently available for WhatsApp for Android beta as it isn’t spotted yet. You can get this feature only on the Beta version of WhatsApp on iOS, which you’ll get access to from Testflight for iOS.
This screenshot shows that WhatsApp is adding a new banner in the community group to announce this new feature. So, if you get this feature on your WhatsApp, you’ll see an announcement banner.
Haptic Feedback on Reactions
WABetaInfo has also reported that WhatsApp is now testing haptic feedback on reactions on messages for all the reactions, not just in communities. It is spotted on WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.23.3.3.
You will be able to get feedback on holding down the message and selecting an emoji reaction.
Camera Toggles in WhatsApp for Android
Separately, WhatsApp has tested a new camera toggle for switching between photos and videos in iOS. It has been spotted testing in WhatsApp for Android in the beta version 2.23.2.73. Currently, there is only a single shutter button for the WhatsApp camera, one which you can press to click an image and a long press to record video.
