Xiaomi 11i Series confirmed to feature Dimensity 920 chipset in India

Xiaomi 11i series will be launching on January 6th, 2021, in India. Reports have revealed that the lineup will include two models namely, the Xiaomi 11i and Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge. The latter will be India’s first smartphone to arrive with support for 120W fast charging.

Today, the company confirmed the name of the chipset that will be powering the device. In addition, it has also revealed the design and a few of the key features through the 11i landing page, which is available on Xiaomi India’s website. Once announced, the 11i series will be available for purchase through, Mi Home, Flipkart, and retail stores.

Xiaomi 11i series to arrive with the 6nm Dimensity 920 chip

As can be seen in the above poster, the Xiaomi 11i lineup will be equipped with the 6nm Dimensity 920 chipset, which was announced back in August this year. Rumours have it that the Vivo V23 5G launching a day before the 11i series will be the country’s first Dimensity 920 powered smartphone. Hence, the 11i will be one of the first smartphones to launch in India with the Dimensity 920 chip onboard.

The Xiaomi 11i series will feature a 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display with a punch-hole design. The screen will carry support for up to 1200 nits of brightness. The 11i duo is expected to sport the same design and will arrive in colours like Pacific Pearl and Stealth Black.

Xiaomi 11i, 11i HyperCharge specifications (rumoured)

Reports have claimed that the Xiaomi 11i and 11i HyperCharge will be rebranded versions of China’s Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G and Note 11 Pro+ 5G smartphones that were announced in October this year. Both phones came with identical specs, but they mainly differ in the battery and charging departments.

The Xiaomi 11i 5G and 11i HyperCharge 5G will feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Both phones will feature a 16-megapixel front-facing camera and a 108-megapixel (main) + 8-megapixel (ultrawide) + 2-megapixel (telemacro) triple camera unit. These devices will run on Android 11 OS, which will be overlaid with the MIUI 12.5.

The Dimensity 920 chipset will power the 11i duo with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The 11i will feature a 5,160mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging, while the 11i HyperCharge will house a 4,500mAh battery with 120W rapid charging. Both handsets will be equipped with a side-facing fingerprint scanner and stereo speakers.

According to a recent report, the 11i HyperCharge will come in a single trim offering 8GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage. It also claimed that the device will come in Camo Green, which seems to be teased in the above-shown poster.

Xiaomi 11i, 11i HyperCharge price in India (expected)

There is no word on the pricing of the Xiaomi 11i series. The 11i will be succeeding the Xiaomi Mi 10i (review), which was introduced with a pricing of Rs 21,999. Hence, the 11i is likely to arrive with a similar starting price. On the other hand, the 11i HyperCharge could be priced at around Rs 30,000.
