Xiaomi 12 series is set to launch in China on December 28th. The launch date is in line with past reports. Xiaomi executives Lei Jun, Lu Weibing and Wang Teng Thomas took to microblogging platform Weibo to reveal the names of the upcoming Xiaomi 12 lineup of smartphones.
The Xiaomi 12 series will consist of a regular Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12X, and Xiaomi 12 Pro. Alongside the smartphones, the Chinese brand will also introduce its next-generation MIUI 13 based on Android 12 OS.
Xiaomi 12 series and MIUI 13 to launch in China next week
Xiaomi hasn’t explicitly announced the lineup of its upcoming Xiaomi 12 series. The company’s founder Lei Jun posted on Weibo from the standard Xiaomi 12 whereas General Manager Wang Teng Thomas shared a post from the Xiaomi 12X. Meanwhile, the more powerful Xiaomi 12 Pro was used by the brand’s Group President Lu Weibing. The posts by the three company executives pretty much confirm the upcoming Xiaomi 12 lineup.
The Xiaomi 12, 12X, and 12 Pro have also been spotted on China’s 3C and TENAA certification sites. The standard and Pro variants are expected to be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor while the 12X will likely be an affordable model in the lineup equipped with a Snapdragon 870 SoC. The Xiaomi 12 and 12X will reportedly support 67W fast charging whereas the Pro variant could max out at 120W charging speed.
Software-wise, the upcoming Xiaomi 12 series is also expected to ship with the latest Android 12 based MIUI 13 out of the box. We will learn more details about the Xiaomi 12 lineup and MIUI 13 at the launch event next week.
