According to a recent Weibo post by Xiaomi founder and CEO, Lei Jun, the company had originally planned to launch the Xiaomi 12 Ultra powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip earlier this year. However, the company abandoned this plan after deciding to use the most recent Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC. As a result, the company decided to call the device Xiaomi 12S Ultra rather than Xiaomi 12 Ultra. It has arrived as a successor to the iconic Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra from last year. The company recently entered into a long-term partnership with German camera brand, Leica, for an optimised camera experience on all three phones.
