Back in October 2019, Xiaomi had announced a new version of its custom ROM, MIUI 11. However, it was based on Android 9 Pie and was rolled out to all 27 supported devices by the end of the year. The Chinese smartphone maker recently rolled out the Android 10-based MIUI 11 update to the Redmi K20, while the K20 Pro received the latest OS in last September. Now Xiaomi is rolling out the update to more devices which include the Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 7, Mi MIX 3, Mi 9 SE, and Mi 8 SE. It’s worth noting that the Android 10 based-MIUI 11 update is currently rolling out to users in China. It’s unknown when Indian users will receive the update, but we expect in the coming weeks.
To check the OS update, users can head to Settings > About Phone > System Update. If no update is available, users can download the ZIP file and manually flash it (at their own risk). The update is being rolled out in a phased manner so it could take time to reach all devices. The Android 10 update for the above mentioned devices brings a system-wide dark mode, enhanced privacy settings, smart messaging replies, gesture navigations and more. These are early builds of the software, so users may encounter bugs and unexpected crashes. Out of the list of mentioned devices, only the Redmi Note 8 Pro and Note 7 are available in India.
