If a phone needs to be charged multiple times a day, there could be some issue with its battery. The chipset of a phone with a degrading battery may try to throttle the performance to reduce the battery consumption. This can impact the overall performance of the device. Moreover, a smartphone with a faulty battery can generate excessive heat and explode in the worst-case scenario. Since a faulty battery can cause serious damage to the phone and user, it is always advisable to get it replaced.

The Xiaomi battery replacement program allows users to replace their phone’s battery with a starting price of Rs 499. The price could vary depending on the smartphone. Hence, it is likely to cost more for older devices.

A user can simply visit a Xiaomi-authorised service centre to replace a phone’s battery. Alternatively, one can book an appointment through the Xiaomi Service+ app before visiting the service centre. If the battery is found to have less than advised health, the company will replace it. If the device is under warranty, it goes without saying that its faulty battery will be replaced for free. Xiaomi’s new initiative can help in extending the life and usability of their smartphones.
