Xiaomi Beryllium with Snapdragon 845 Could be Heading to India

Recent reports have revealed India will be of the countries that will be receiving the upcoming Xiaomi Mi A2 smartphone. Fresh information shared by XDA Developers claims that the country will be also receiving a Snapdragon 845 powered Xiaomi phone in the coming months.

Xiaomi has so far launched four Snapdragon 845 powered smartphones in China namely, Mi MIX 2S, Mi 8, Mi 8 Explorer Edition and Black Shark gaming phone. However, none of these phones have arrived in India. The publication claims that the leaked firmware files that were obtained in March has revealed that the company is working on another Snapdragon 845 smartphone that is codenamed as Beryllium. It is speculated that this phone could be Xiaomi’s Snapdragon 845 phone for India.


The leaked firmware files from March suggests that the mysterious Beryllium smartphone features a notched LCD screen. The handset could be equipped with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The rear panel is also expected to feature optical zoom enabled dual camera setup. It features a big battery of 4,000mAh capacity. It is loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo and it lacks a microSD card slot

The report claims that terms like ‘isIndiaBeautyFilter’ and ‘dualcamera_india’ can be found in the code of the MIUI camera app indicates are an indication that the Beryllium smartphone could be arriving in India.

The specs of the already available Snapdragon 845 powered Xiaomi phones do not entirely match with the newly Beryllium phone which suggests that it could be an entirely different phone. In the previous month, Xiaomi had trademark POCOPHONE brand name.

The same moniker was spotted at Taiwan’s National Communications Commission (NCC) along with a model number of M1805E10A. SlashLeaks has revealed that the same smartphone has received certification from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the U.S.

The FCC listing has revealed that the handset measures 151 x 76mm and its variants include 64 GB storage + 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage + 6 GB RAM. XDA Developers has claimed that there is a possibility that the mysterious Beryllium could be the first POCOPHONE branded phone by Xiaomi.

The publication has clarified that since the firmware files were spotted in March, there is a possibility that the specs of the Beryllium may have changed. Hence, it is advisable to wait for further reports to confirm the identity of the Beryllium smartphone.
