Xiaomi-backed firm Black Shark has launched a new gaming smartphone in China. It is packed with top-notch specifications and elements that make it a full fledged gaming phone. Apart from the general hardware, it has liquid cooling technology and a detachable Gamepad too. Even the pricing is not as high as one would expect from a phone of this stature. It starts at RMB 2,999 which roughly translates to Rs. 31,150. Let’s see what the new Black Shark gaming smartphone has to offer us.
Since this is not a regular smartphone, there are some key additions which will please gamers. The brand has provided a one-touch SHARK key, a physical button. Additionally, the fingerprint sensor can be used to toggle silent and DND modes while playing games. The detachable gamepad mentioned earlier can be connected to the phone through Bluetooth 4.0. The gamepad also has its own dedicated 150mAh battery that promises to last up to 30 hours on a full charge. The Gamepad costs RMB 179 (~ Rs. 1850).
Gamers will likely use the device continuously for a prolonged period of time and thus, Black Shark has offered liquid cooling for the device to prevent it from heating. The brand says that it can help in reducing the CPU temperature by up to 8 degrees.
To help smooth image processing, the device has got a dedicated image processing chip by Pixelworks. It has various advantages that includes image enhancement, dark scene detail processing and much more. Since the phone will be held in landscape mode quite frequently, Black Shark has integrated an ‘X-style’ antenna design. This will make sure that gamers won’t face any signal related issue while playing in any orientation.
Talking of its core specifications, it comes with a 5.99-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The display has a Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and can deliver up to 550 nits of brightness. This display ensures that you get a truly immersive experience. It also allows gamers the liberty to use the device not just at home but outdoors as well, owing to how bright it can get.
There’s a dual-rear camera setup on the back that combines a 12-megapixel sensor with a 20-megapixel one. Both of them have an f/1.75 aperture which will likely offer great low-light pictures. On the front, there’s a 20-megapixel snapper provided for clicking selfies and making video calls.
It packs in superb performance specifications as there is a Snapdragon 845 chipset that sits in the phone along with a massive 8GB of RAM. There’s a lower variant of the phone that gets 6GB of RAM. There are two variants w.r.t. storage as well, one with 64GB and the other one with 128GB. The Black Shark device gets Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box which is great as well.
The phone draws its powers from a 4000mAh battery unit and supports QuickCharge 3.0 for fast charging. On the connectivity front, it gets 4G LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a USB Type-C port and all the other conventional connectivity options.
With Xiaomi backing the phone, it indeed seems like a promising device. It has everything that a gamer could expect in a smartphone and packs in top-notch specifications.
