Xiaomi Black Shark Helo With Snapdragon 845 And 10GB RAM Announced

Xiaomi launched the Black Shark, a gaming centric smartphone in China in April this year. The company announced the second iteration of the device dubbed as the Black Shark Helo for international markets. The device has been doing several rounds on the internet prior to the launch. The Black Shark Helo is the successor to the original Black Shark and comes with several interesting specifications and features.

Technical Specifications:

The Black Shark Helo isn’t very different from its predecessor. It flaunts a 6.1-inch FHD display with an AMOLED panel on the top and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The notable change is the placement of dual rear cameras from horizontal to vertical. The fingerprint scanner has also been moved to the back. The left and right edges of the display feature three glowing RGB lights.

Under the hood, the Black Shark Helo houses the same top of the line Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. The processor is combined with with three RAM configurations of 6GB, 8GB, and 10GB. In terms of storage, the 6GB & 8GB RAM variants offer 128GB internal memory while the higher 10GB RAM variant offers 256GB. A  dual pipe liquid cooling system is fitted inside that prevents the device from heating. This ensures that users enjoy uninterrupted gaming performance over longer periods.

On the camera front, the Black Shark Helo features a dual rear module consisting of 12MP and 20MP sensors, both with an f/1.75 aperture. Upfront, there is an 20MP snapper for clicking selfies. It offers 4K video recording at 30fps and 1080p/720p videos at 120fps.

The Black Shark Helo draws its power from a 4,000 mAh battery like its predecessor, and also supports QuickCharge 3.0 for fast charging. The device runs on the latest Android 9.0 Pie based on custom MIUI out of the box. Connectivity-wise, it offers all the conventional options like 4G LTE, Bluetooth, WiFi and a USB Type-C port. Xiaomi has also included a gamepad attachment for the device in the box.

Xiaomi has launched the Black Shark Helo in China and goes on sale starting today. The Black Shark Helo sports a slightly similar pricing compared to first generation.
