Xiaomi Is Gearing Up To Launch A New Leica Phone At MWC 2023

Highlights

  • Xiaomi-Leica partnership is going global
  • Xiaomi has sent out the official invites for its MWC event
  • Is it Xiaomi 13S Ultra or Xiaomi 12 Ultra?

Xiaomi has sent out the official invites for its MWC showcase. The event is set for February 27 to March 2.

91mobiles reports that Xiaomi is looking forward to launching another model to its lineup. The key highlight of this smartphone will be the Leica optics like the Xiaomi 12S Ultra and Xiaomi 13 series of phones.

91mobiles reported that it could be Xiaomi 13S Ultra, but the Xiaomi 13 series dropped last month. If Xiaomi follows the pattern of its previous Ultra phone, it could very well be Xiaomi 13S Ultra.

The upcoming Xiaomi phone with Leica optics is touted to come with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and QHD+ display. Not much else is known about the phone as of now.

We can also anticipate the launch of the Xiaomi 13 series, which was launched earlier in the Chinese market at the MWC event.

Is this Xiaomi 13 Ultra?

Chatter about Xiaomi 13 Ultra has already begun on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo.

The founder of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, has replied to a question if the upcoming Xiaomi 13 Ultra will have a white version, to which he responded no.

There have also been rumours that Xiaomi is discontinuing the production of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra in anticipation of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra launch.

On top of that, with all the Xiaomi 13 Ultra leaks that have been coming over the previous weeks, we can be sure to expect the launch of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra at MWC for the global market.

This will be the first for Xiaomi to launch an Ultra phone in the global market, as it has resorted to limiting its ultra-premium Ultra range of smartphones to the Chinese market only. The previous Ultra, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, was launched exclusively on the Chinese market, and the only Ultra from Xiaomi we saw on Indian shores was the Mi 11 Ultra. We only saw a limited release with that phone.

It would be interesting to see if this Ultra smartphone will be launching in the Indian markets as well.
