Xiaomi Mi 10 with 108MP camera and Snapdragon 865 to launch in India on May 8th

Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain has been teasing the launch of a 108MP camera smartphone in India for a while now. The device in question is the Mi 10 flagship phone, which was slated to launch in India on March 31st.

However, due to the coronavirus pandemic and resulting lockdown, the launch was delayed. While the lockdown has now been extended for two more weeks, the Indian government has relaxed the guidelines for e-commerce giants like Amazon and Flipkart as they can now deliver orders to orange and green zones. As a result, smartphone sales can commence in India and we now have a confirmation that the Mi 10 will launch in India this week.

Xiaomi Mi 10 launching in India on May 8th

The India Twitter handle of the brand has posted a tweet with the launch date. The tweet by the brand reads, This is gonna evoke a lot of excitement. This is gonna #EvokeYourImagination. Mi fans, #Mi10 is launching on MAY 8th. Yes, just 4 days to go for the #108MP phone and more… RT if you have been waiting for the launch date.

The company has also shared an image with the tweet confirming that the Mi 10 in India will come with 5G connectivity. Xiaomi will live stream the launch event in the country on Friday at 12 pm. Additionally, the tweet also reveals that the brand will not only launch the Mi 10 but also more. As of now, it’s not known what else Xiaomi plans to launch at the event.

Xiaomi Mi 10 specifications and features

To recap, the Xiaomi Mi 10 comes with a 6.67-inch S-AMOLED display with full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The display features an in-display fingerprint sensor and a punch-hole design. There is the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform ticking at the core of the flagship smartphone, with up to 12GB of LDDR5 RAM. The company will offer 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 256GB variants.

In the camera department, the handset flaunts a 108MP + 13MP + 2MP + 2MP setup on the back and a 20MP selfie shooter. The Android 10-based MIUI 11 and a 4,780mAh battery with 30 watts fast charging support completes the spec sheet.
