Xiaomi launched its fourth Mi series device called Mi 10i in India today, which will join the Mi 10Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro (review). On paper, the handset ticks a lot of the right boxes including a Full HD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate, 108MP quad rear cameras, and Snapdragon 750G SoC with 5G.

What makes the Xiaomi Mi 10i a commendable offering is the price tag, which starts at Rs 20,999 for the base variant. At this price point, the new launch goes up against the likes of the OnePlus Nord and similarly-priced Moto G 5G (review). In case you are in the market for a premium mid-range smartphone, here’s a detailed comparison of all three.

The Xiaomi Mi 10i comes in three configurations – 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, and  8GB + 256GB. These variants are priced at Rs 20,999, Rs 21,999, and Rs 23,999 respecitvely. Xiaomi is offering the new launch in Midnight Black, Atlantic Blue and Pacific Sunrise colours. The smartphone will go on sale on Amazon starting January 7th, with open sales starting from January 8th.

The OnePlus Nord also comes in three configurations with the base 6GB + 64GB model priced at Rs 24,999. Currently, the base variant is not available for purchase. The other configurations are 8GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB priced at Rs 27,999, and Rs 29,999, respectively. The handset can be picked in Blue Marble and Gray Onyx colour options.

The Motorola Moto G 5G only comes in a single variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The smartphone is available on Flipkart and retails at Rs 20,999. The phone is available in  Frosted Silver and Volcanic Grey colours.

The Xiaomi Mi 10i has the other two beat in the display department with its 120Hz panel. The 6.67-inch IPS LCD screen offers FHD+ resolution and is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The OnePlus Nord has a smaller 6.44-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with 90Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 5 layer. The Moto G 5G has standard 60Hz IPS LTPS LCD panel with the same resolution and Gorilla Glass 5 layer.

In the performance department, the Xiaomi Mi 10i and Moto G 5G are both equipped with the mid-range 5G processor, 8nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G. While the former offers up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, the latter comes in a single variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The OnePlus Nord gets more power-efficient 7nm 5G-enabled Snapdragon 765G SoC with the highest configuration up to 12GB and up to 256GB storage. While both Snapdragon 750G and 765G offer similar performance in day-to-day usage, OnePlus Nord wins by a narrow margin because of better battery efficiency and high RAM configuration on offer.

In the software department, the Moto G 5G features runs Android 10 with My UX on top, which offers a stock Android experience. The OnePlus Nord boots OxygenOS 10.5 based on Android 10. Lastly, the Xiaomi Mi 10i comes with MIUI 12 based on Android 10.

The OnePlus Nord should be your pick if you need higher RAM, clean Oxygen OS experience, and a sharper AMOLED display. Similarly, the Moto G 5G is for those who are looking for a stock Android experience on a budget.
