Xiaomi has confirmed the launch date of its upcoming flagship, the Mi 9. The smartphone will launch in China on February 20th, the same day as Samsung’s global Galaxy S10 series launch. The company has sent out media invites for the launch event with the smartphone’s codename ‘Battle Angel’ hinting at powerful specifications. The device is also claimed to be the best looking Xiaomi smartphone so far.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 is the successor to last year’s Mi 8. As for the specs, previous leaks suggest that the device may sport a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with waterdrop style notch. The Mi 9 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 chipset coupled with and 8GB RAM variants. It is speculated that the Mi 9 will be the first phone from Xiaomi to sport a triple rear camera setup comprising of a 48MP primary, 12MP secondary and 3D ToF depth sensor. On the front, the device may be fitted with a 25MP selfie shooter.
Rumors also suggest that the Mi 9 will come with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The device will likely be equipped with a 3,500mAh battery unit with support for 27W fast charging.
The Mi 9 is expected to carry a price tag of CNY 2,999 which is roughly to Rs 30,500. The Mi 9 may not hit the Indian markets as was the case with the Mi 8 which launched in China, but never made its way to India.
These are just leaked and rumored specifications of the Mi 9. There is also no confirmation whether the Mi 9 will be launched in Explorer and SE editions. With February 20th coming up soon, we will keep you updated when the device is launched.
