Xiaomi Mi A1, the Chinese brand’s first Android One smartphone has started receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update. During the phone’s launch in September, Xiaomi had claimed that the Mi A1 would get Oreo before 2017 and it has lived upto its promise, albeit on the last day.
We're ending the year with an O! #MiA1 users, stay tuned as we're rolling out your long-awaited update in batches but make sure you're already on the latest December update (7.12.19) to receive Android O! pic.twitter.com/GhRtDnyJn4

The news was announced by Xiaomi’s official Twitter handle earlier today. Along with the announcement, the brand also asked users to stay updated with December’s latest 7.12.19 update that included the Android security patch of this month. No other step is required from user’s side in order to get the Oreo update.
A beta tester of Oreo on Mi A1 had claimed that the phone will be enabled for fast charging, have faster app load times along with some minor improvements on the UI front. However, it is yet to be confirmed whether these features have been pushed out with the update. Nevertheless, all the new features of Android Oreo will surely be coming to the Mi A1. Since the phone provides a stock experience, one can expect all the features as is.
This is probably the first phone in this price range (Rs. 13,999) to receive Android Oreo software update and it is commendable on Xiaomi’s part. If you are a Xiaomi Mi A1 user, expect to receive the OTA update in the next few days. The update will be rolled out in phases which will commence through the coming weeks.
