Xiaomi launched the Mi A2, it’s second-generation Android One smartphone in India on August 8th, a few weeks after its international debut in Madrid, Spain last month. The device is the successor to last year’s Xiaomi Mi A1. It boots a stock version of Android 8.1 Oreo, and will be among the first Xiaomi devices to receive the Android 9.0 Pie update.
Xiaomi Mi A2 specifications and features
The Xiaomi Mi A2 features a full metal unibody design and sports a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. It also offers face unlock via the front camera. The device features a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The display also gets a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor, and is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
In the camera department, the smartphone boasts a 12MP primary camera, assisted by a 20MP secondary sensor, both with f/1.75 aperture. For selfies, you get a 20MP front camera with soft LED flash. Fuelling the device is a 3,010mAh battery, which supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0+ technology. In terms of the connectivity options, you get Wi-Fi 802.11ac, VoLTE, dual-SIM, Bluetooth 5.0, an IR blaster and USB Type-C. Unfortunately, there’s no 3.5mm audio jack. It’s available in Black, Gold, Lake Blue and Rose Gold options.
Xiaomi Mi A2 Price and Sale date
The Xiaomi Mi A2 is priced at Rs 16,999. Xiaomi will also be releasing a 6GB + 128GB variant of the device, but the pricing of that hasn’t been announced yet. The Xiaomi Mi A2 went up for pre-order on August 9th, and will be available for sale on August 16th via Mi.com, Amazon and Mi Homes, as well as the brand’s partner stores.
