Mi A3 Android 10 update delayed due to coronavirus outbreak, Xiaomi confirms

Xiaomi Mi A3 users have been awaiting the arrival of the Android 10 update. The Android One phone that had debuted in July last year should have been one of the first Xiaomi phones to receive the Android 10 update. However, Mi A3 users are yet to receive the upgrade. In January, frustrated Mi A3 owners had filed a petition on over the Android 10 update delay. Recent developments had suggested that Mi A3 users will get the update this month. However, Sumit Sonal, Mi Brand Lead at Xiaomi India, has taken to Twitter to state the update has been delayed due to to the coronavirus outbreak.


On February 25th, Sonal had replied to a Twitter user stating that the Android 10 update for the Mi A3 is in the last stages of getting final certification. The next day Sonal, tweeted that the mid-February Android 10 rollout has been delayed due to the extended shutdown caused by the coronavirus outbreak. He still maintains that the company is working on acquiring final certification for the update and will soon confirm its arrival.

While the Xiaomi Mi A3 Android 10 update was expected to arrive by February end, the new developments suggest that its rollout may get delayed to next month. The Mi A3 had arrived running stock Android 9 Pie. Android 10 will be its first major OS update, and it is entitled to receive an update to Android 11 later.

The Xiaomi Mi A3 (review) has a 6.09-inch HD+ AMOLED display with in-screen fingerprint reader. The Snapdragon 665 SoC fuels the phone. It has a Sony IMX586 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera setup and a 32-megapixel front camera. It has a 4,030mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. Xiaomi has recently slashed its price in India. The 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage editions of the Mi A3 are now priced at Rs 11,999 and Rs 14,999, respectively.
