On: August 13, 2019

Yesterday Xiaomi India had teased the arrival of the Mi A3 with a one-minute long video featuring Manu Kumar Jain. Now, Xiaomi India has confirmed that it is launching the upcoming smartphone on August 21st at 12pm. The company has also sent out media invites for the launch event. The teaser image reveals a triple rear camera setup with a 48MP main sensor and Android One.

To recall, the Mi A3 went official in Spain last month. It is a rebranded version of Mi CC9e launched in China. The smartphone comes with significant upgrades compared to its predecessor, the Mi A2. The Mi A3 sports a 6-inch AMOLED display bearing HD+ resolution. The device features a waterdrop notch on the top and is equipped with an in-display fingerprint scanner. It comes with a gradient glass back panel and can be availed in Blue, White, and Grey colour options. The back panel also houses a vertically stacked triple rear camera setup. The module consists of a 48MP main camera featuring Sony IMX586 sensor, an 8MP secondary lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. Up front, there is a 32MP shooter for selfies.

Inside, the Mi A3 houses a slightly upgraded Snapdragon 665 chipset. In European markets, the processor is coupled with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB internal storage. Xiaomi may launch the smartphone in different variants in India. The Mi A3 is backed by a 4,030mAh battery unit with support for 18W fast charging. The device is a part of the Android One program offering stock UI and guaranteed software and security updates.

The Mi A3 is expected to be priced similarly or slightly lower as its European variant, with a sub-Rs 20,000 price tag. It’s just a matter of days till the launch event where we will know about the smartphone’s pricing and availability.
