While we’re still waiting on an exact date from the company, a report by SmartPrix claims it will be launched on August 23rd.
The technical specifications of the Mi A3 are likely to remain the same as the European variants, so we already know what to expect from the device. The Mi A3 sports an HD+ AMOLED display measuring 6-inches. The AMOLED panel is an upgrade while the screen resolution is downgraded to HD+ compared to its predecessor, the Mi A2. The smartphone bears a waterdrop notch and comes equipped with an in-display fingerprint scanner. Design-wise, the Mi A3 flaunts a gradient glass back panel and ships in Blue, White and Grey colour options.
The Mi A3 is equipped with a triple rear camera setup comprising of a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor. It is accompanied by an 8MP secondary camera and a 2MP depth sensor. The device is fitted with a 32MP front snapper.
On the hardware front, the Mi A3 is powered by an upgraded Snapdragon 665 processor, compared to the Snapdragon 660 on the Mi A2. The European variant packs 4GB RAM coupled with 64GB or 128GB storage options. In India, Xiaomi may launch the device in different variants. The Mi A3 draws its power from a 4,030mAh battery unit with support for 18W fast charging. The smartphone is based on Google’s Android One program offering stock UI. There is also a microSD card slot for storage expansion and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
We expect the Mi A3 to be priced similarly or slightly lower as its European variant which retails at Rs 19,307 for the base model and Rs 21,619 for the higher variant. We will know more about the launch details in the coming weeks.
