After a wait of two years, Xiaomi launched the Mi Band 3 which is the successor to the Mi Band 2. The Chinese company doesn’t seem to stop there though and has teased a different version of the device, which is likely to be the Mi Band 3 (Explorer Edition?).
The fresh images of the new fitness tracker have been shared by Xiaomi’s sub-brand Mijia which reveal the fitness tracker with a translucent strap. Apart from this, there isn’t any visual difference between the upcoming edition and the normal variant.
Under the hood, however, the Explorer Edition could come with some extra features, but we wouldn’t bet our money on it as the Mi Band 3 itself looks like a pretty decent fitness tracker. The Explorer Edition could be an aesthetic update just like the Mi 8 Explorer Edition that comes with a translucent back.
Just like the Mi Band 2, the latest offering also comes with an IP67 rating which makes it dust and water resistant. Along with that, the fitness tracker offers features such as step counting, heartbeat tracker, sleep tracker and notifying the user when they receive calls or messages on their phones. The Mi Band 3 connects to both Android devices as well as iPhones through Bluetooth 4.2.
Talking about the price, the Mi Band 3, which is currently only available in China, is priced at 169 Yuan (~Rs. 1,700). The Explorer Edition is likely to be launched at a slightly higher price tag of 199 Yuan (~Rs. 2,000). Both the Mi Band 3 and its upcoming variant are yet to be announced for the Indian market. We can definitely expect the products to make it to the country soon, especially considering how big a market share Xiaomi enjoys out here.
