At a launch event held today in China, Xiaomi has launched the much awaited Mi Band 4. The fourth generation of its fitness tracker comes with significant upgrades compared to the Mi Band 3. Let’s take a look below:
Specs & Features:
The display is the key highlight of the Mi Band 4. It features a bigger OLED screen measuring 0.95-inches, which is for the first time, a colour display. It is fitted with a 2.5D scratch-resistant glass for enhanced user experience. The overall design appears to be similar to the Mi Band 3 with a rubber strap. The fitness tracker can be availed in five band colour options as well – Black, Blue, Orange, Pink and Maroon. The Mi Band 4 comes with a water-resistant rating up to 5 ATM.
For health-centric features, the Band 4 features an improved heart-rate sensor. It comes with a sleep tracker that tracks a user’s sleep information and sleeping habits. The Mi Band 4 is equipped with a sedentary reminder that prompts the user to do some activity after longer periods of idleness. It comes with support to track six major sports modes. It is equipped with a 6-axis gyro sensor for tracking swimming data in real time. The Mi Band 4 is powered by a 135mAh battery unit instead of 110mAh on the Mi Band 3. Users won’t have to separate the module from the bracelet for charging since the connection is now installed on the bottom.
The Mi Band 4 comes with Bluetooth 5.0 for improved connectivity. The fitness tracker is compatible with Android 4.4 or above and on iOS devices with iOS 9.0 or up. Like its predecessor, users can check social app notifications, weather updates, and accept/reject calls from the tracker. The Mi Band 4 also features Xiao AI, voice assistant, onboard that can be used for controlling Xiaomi’s IoT products.
Pricing & Availability:
The Mi Band 4 is launched in two variants – one with an NFC chip and another non-NFC version. The former is priced at 229 Yuan (~Rs 2,296) while the latter carries a price tag of 169 Yuan (~Rs 1,694). The Mi Band 4 has also been launched in Avengers edition which will retail at 349 Yuan (~Rs 3,500). The fitness tracker will be available for purchase starting June 16th in China.
No pricing & availability details for the India market have been announced. But we expect the Mi Band 4 to launch in coming weeks.
