Xiaomi’s Mi Commerce platform lets you order products from its retail partners: here’s how it works

On: May 5, 2020

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) recently released its newest guidelines regarding the relaxations during the lockdown 3.0 until May 17th. This has allowed smartphone makers to start accepting orders from Green and Orange zone on online platforms. On the other hand, while offline stores are allowed to open in these zones, they cannot expect the same footfall as their online counterparts due to the lockdown and people not willing to venture outside.

Xiaomi has come up with a unique solution by launching the Mi Commerce platform. Mi Commerce is an offline-to-online platform, which lets brick-and-mortar stores have an online channel of delivery, similar to the recently launched JioMart service. Here’s everything you need to know about the newest initiative by Xiaomi.

Xiaomi Mi Commerce is designed to bridge the gap between offline and online channels

The Xiaomi Mi Commerce platform is intended for Xiaomi partner stores, which are suffering from reduced footfalls and sales due to the lockdown. Mi Commerce has been designed as a “product discovery platform,” which will showcase products in stock at your nearest Xiaomi exclusive stores.

Through Mi Commerce, buyers will be able to check out the entire stock at the nearest Xiaomi store and make a purchase. Xiaomi announced that it has retained all its 50,000 employees and partners in India working across 10,000 retail partners, including Mi Home, Mi Stores, and Mi Studios. This new initiative is to help these partners gain traction even during the lockdown.

Xiaomi has set up the Mi Commerce web app, where you can select the Xiaomi store nearest to your home and check out its inventory. You will have to add the product to your wishlist and share your address along with contact details. The retail store will then call you to confirm the order and delivery timeline. The payment will be collected from the buyer at the time of delivery.

Alternatively, you can simply send a WhatsApp message to Xiaomi’s Business account number 8861826286 and will be guided on how to commence the ordering process. Xiaomi announced that many more additional user-friendly features would be added soon to the WhatsApp bot.
