Xiaomi teases the launch of Mi-branded laptops in India

[Update: Xiaomi has now confirmed that it’s a laptop launch by tagging leading laptop vendors in India and saying hello]

Xiaomi has been rumoured to launch its laptops in India for a while now. Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain reportedly told retailers that the company was planning to launch its laptops in the country soon. In a tweet posted today, Jain has pretty much confirmed that the next product launch from the company will be a laptop.

Since the Xiaomi sub-brand, Redmi recently launched the RedmiBook 13, 14 and 16 it was natural for people to assume that the same laptops would be launched in India. However, Xiaomi replied to a few tweets suggesting that the product would launch under the Mi brand. Several Xiaomi executives have also teased the upcoming launch with the hashtag ‘#WhatsNextForMi’, confirming that it’s indeed Mi product.

In the video, Jain can be seen working on a laptop, slamming down the lid and saying “It’s time”. The tweet also features an emoji of a man with a laptop. There is some speculation that the “It’s time” phrase hints at a smartwatch and not laptop, so we’ll have to wait for more information before we can confirm the final product.

Mi Notebook Pro 15 Enhanced Edition specifications and features

Xiaomi has launched laptops under its Mi Notebook Pro and Mi Notebook Air series in China. The last Mi laptop launched by the company was Mi Notebook Pro 15 Enhanced Edition in October 2019. The Mi Notebook Pro 15 Enhanced Edition ships with a 15.6-inch full HD display and has a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. Powering the laptop is a 10th-gen Intel Core i7 processor with 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of SSD storage.

The laptop features full-sized backlit keyboard and is powered by a 60Wh battery. Other features of the laptop include a 1MP webcam, Windows 10 Home, HDMI port, USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack.
