At an event held in New Delhi today, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has finally launched the Mi Max 2 in India. Successor to Mi Max launched in June last year, the Mi Max 2 also continues the legacy of a big display and a massive battery. It carries a price tag of Rs 16,999 and is available for purchase on all online and offline partners starting 27th July. You could also get it on Mi Anniversary sale starting 20th July on Mi.com and Mi Home app.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 features a full metal unibody design with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. It features 0.7mm ultra narrow bezels on the sides of the display. The handset also boasts of a dual stereo speaker – one embedded in the earpiece and another one at the bottom.
Specs-wise, the Mi Max 2 puts on a mammoth-sized 6.44-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Additionally, the display also gets 2.5D curved glass on top. Powering the phone and backing up the huge display, the phone packs in a 5,300mAh battery. It supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging which can charge the phone from zero to 68% in one hour. The company promises it to provide 57 hours of talktime or 18 hours of video playback on a single charge.
Under the hood, an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor along with 4GB of RAM runs the show. It comes in two different storage variants – 64GB and 128GB. However, only 64GB variant made it to the Indian market. For photography, the Mi Max 2 flaunts an improved 12-megapixel rear camera backed with Sony IMX386 sensor. The rear camera also comes with 1.25μm pixel size, PDAF and dual-tone LED flash. Up front, it sports an 8-megapixel snapper for selfies.
