Xiaomi is Disbanding the Mi Max and Mi Note Lineup

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun took to Weibo and gave us a sneak peek at the product strategy with respect to the brand’s Mi and the Redmi smartphone series. In the post, the Xiaomi head honcho also mentioned that there will be no new Mi Max and Mi Note phones this year.

As part of the strategy, Xiaomi will remain focussed on high-end models. The company is invested in innovating on the higher spectrum devices like the Mi 9, Mi Mix series and the yet to be launched CC series. Meanwhile, Xiaomi will focus on the value addition when it comes to budget-centric lineups like the Redmi series. It looks like the company will add more features to the Redmi series without disturbing the affordability factor.

The Mi Note falls in the upper midrange segment and is known for its large battery and bigger display. The Mi Max lineup was known to offer large displays and humongous battery packs. It is also worth noting that Xiaomi has recently launched the new K-Series. The Redmi K20 comes with best in class hardware minus the large display on the Mi Note. Meanwhile, the CC series is focused on youth. Xiaomi is working with Meitu engineers and is also looking to add image-centric features. Designwise, the CC is expected to be bright and funky, in order to appease the younger buyers.
