Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 was launched in India today at an event by Xiaomi in New Delhi. It is the Chinese manufacturer’s flagship smartphone which features a complete bezel-less design and high-end specifications. It is a successor to last year’s Mi Mix which wasn’t launched in India and was more of a concept phone. However, the second iteration is built to be a global phone and will debut in more global markets soon. It was launched in China a month back, along with the Mi Note 3.
The Mi Mix 2’s biggest asset is its design, the phone sports a complete bezel-less form factor and looks gorgeous. It has a four-sided curved ceramic body which seems premium. Almost the complete front portion of the phone is occupied with the 5.99-inch display which produces a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The screen-to-body ratio is a staggering 93% and the aspect ratio of the screen is 18:9, which is analogous with most phones of this stature.
However, it misses out on dual-rear cameras, which has been the trend of all the flagship phones launched this year. The rear camera packs in a Sony IMX386 sensor which is the same one fitted in the Mi 6. It has a 12-megapixel camera and the rim of the lens is covered with 18-carat gold plated for an ultra-premium look. Since there is no top bezel in the phone, the front camera is housed in the thin bottom bezel which will make you want to hold the phone upside down in order to get the same angle as any other phone. It is a 5-megapixel snapper which is provided for clicking selfies and video calling.
Under the hood, the phone is powered by Snapdragon 835, currently the flagship processor by Qualcomm. It further gets 6GB of RAM for a seamless performance. For storage, the phone has got 128GB of internal capacity. It has a 3400mAh battery pack which can be charged fast with the help of Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. In terms of connectivity, there is 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11ac (dual-band), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, and an USB Type-C port for charging.
The Mi Mix 2 comes with 43 global cellular bands and 6 network modes which makes it compatible with the cellular standards of almost all the major countries. Xiaomi claims the phone can work in 226 regions across the world. It supports two SIM’s simultaneously and both of them need to be nano SIM’s.
The Mi Mix 2 is priced at Rs. 35,999 for the Indian market. It will be available in the first week of November via Flipkart, Mi’s official online store, Mi Home and other offline partner stores. Xiaomi has introduced a special preview sale on October 17th for Mi fans which at 12 noon.
