Xiaomi held an event in China and launched a power-packed new laptop termed as ‘Mi Notebook Pro’. The same event also saw launches of two other new products: Mi Mix 2 and the Mi Note 3. The Mi Notebook Pro will feature world’s first batch of 8th generation Intel core i7 processors. Xiaomi also boasted about a new ‘symmetrical cooling design’ which helps the laptop cool much more efficiently than others. Hardware and Design
In terms of hardware, the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro looks pretty premium and weighs 1.95kg. The laptop has dimensions of 360 x 243.6 x 15.9mm. It comes in a dark gray colour which makes the laptop looks minimilastic.
The keyboard in this laptop is backlit for low-light usage. Xiaomi claims that Notebook Pro’s keyboard is 19% bigger than the one in Macbook Pro. The larger keyboard allows for increased comfort and ergonomics. The touchpad lies below the keyboard and it has a fingerprint sensor integrated into it. The sensor is provided for Windows Hello biometric security authentication wherein all your data will be safely stored in your local device only.
The laptop is designed in a manner which increases the outbound air flow by 40%. This is pulled off by a ‘symmetrical cooling design’ which the Notebook Pro has.
Display and Audio
The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro features a 15.6-inch display. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and has a 72% NTSC colour gamut.
The laptop boasts of Harman Infinity speakers which are custom-built for best performance. It also comes with Dual Atmos speakers in order to provide a surround sound experience. This speaker setup shall be great for a multimedia experience.
Performance and Storage
On the performance front, the Mi Notebook Pro seems like a beast. The laptop packs in the 8th generation Intel core i7 processors which promises exceptional level of performance. The 8th generation processors are claimed to be around 40% more powerful than the previous generation. As mentioned before, this is world’s first batch of 8th generation i7 processors by Intel. The laptop features up to 16GB RAM in the top variant. It is also available in a low-end i5 processor variant.
To render better graphics, the laptop comes with a dedicated Nvidia GeForce MTX150 graphic card which is professionally tuned. The Notebook Pro has up to 256GB SSD for storage as well as faster boot speeds.
Battery and Connectivity
On the battery front, the laptop houses a 60Wh battery which seems quite decent. However, Xiaomi claims that the new light-weight charger which will be provided along with the laptop is well equipped to charge the device up to 50% just in 35 minutes.
The laptop features almost all the necessary ports which includes: 3-in-1 SD card slot, two USB Type-C ports, two USB Type-A ports (USB 3.0 and USB 2.0), a full-sized HDMI port and a 3.5mm headphone jack, .
