While most manufacturers are shying away from the tablet category, Xiaomi is all geared up to launch the Mi Pad 3. Yes, that’s right, details of the Mi Pad 3 leaked via a few promotional materials. Like the name suggests this is the third iteration in Xiaomi‘s tablet lineup. The manufacturer officially launched the Mi Pad in India, but the Mi Pad 2 never made it.
The Mi Pad 3 sports a metal unibody design just like its predecessor. The tablet boasts a 9.7-inch retina display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. The screen size is a considerable bump over the 7.9-inch display on the older Mi Pad. While the dimensions of the device have gone up, it is the slimmest Xiaomi tablet, measuring just 6.08mm in thickness. The material also claims that the Mi Pad 3 gets an 8290mAh battery which is impressive considering it just weighs 380grams.
The tablet has a USB Type-C port at the bottom and supports Quick Charge 3.0. The port has speaker grills on either side. The most surprising bit of the hardware is the processor. The Mi Pad 3 gets the 7th Gen Intel Core M processor with Intel HD 615 graphics onboard. It also gets 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM onboard. The 128GB and 256GB storage are much higher than ever before.
The camera on a tablet isn’t something to look forward to; Xiaomi has put in a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The Mi Pad 3 will run Windows 10 and have MS Office suite preloaded along with Cortana. It will also sport a fingerprint scanner on the front, on the lower chin.
The last slide also reveals the pricing on the Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 which is around 1999 Yuan which translates to Rs 19,999 for the 128GB version. The 256GB version of the tablet is priced at 2299 Yuan which is Rs 22,500. Additionally, a keyboard dock for this tablet also leaked out and will be priced at 99 Yuan.
