The Xiaomi teaser shows a video with a sketch of the robotic vacuum cleaner moving across the floor, followed by a text saying that Mi Cleaning is superior to your cleaning. If you pause the video at the right time, you get a good look at the design of the vacuum cleaner. Xiaomi hasn’t specified which model of the vacuum cleaner will be launched, but it is speculated to be the laser detect model launched in China last year. The caption reads, “How many times do you clean your house every day? What if you could do it, without actually doing it yourself? #SmartCleaning solution for your smart home launching tomorrow. Any guesses, Mi fans?” It doesn’t get any clearer than this and as the post mentioned, the launch will happen on April 17th, 2020. Xiaomi is expected to announce the new product on its social handles tomorrow.
Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner specifications and features
Xiaomi’s smart robot vacuum cleaner with Laser Detect Systems (LDS) was announced for the Chinese market in August 2019. The model comes with three sweeping modes including Sweeping and Mopping mode, Sweeping-only mode and Mopping-only mode. For the mopping mode, Xiaomi sells additional accessories in China, which need to be purchased separately. The standard version features a 55ml trash bin as well as a 2-in-1 water tank. For the mopping mode, users need to purchase a 550ml water tank. In the mopping mode, the robot vacuum cleaner uses manual cleaning and two-way repeated mopping with electronically-controlled water tank and micro-controlled water pump. Other features include Japanese brushless motor, adjustable air duct design, and massive 2100Pa suction.
There is also a companion app, which lets users view the cleaning status, real-time path monitoring, schedule cleaning, and set a cleaning path. While the battery details are not known, Xiaomi claims the battery can last up to 110minutes and with a full charge it can clean a 180 sq. metre room once. Once the battery is exhausted, the robot vacuum automatically docks to the charging port.
The Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner is priced at RMB 1,799 in China, which is roughly Rs 19,500. We should know the Indian pricing and availability details tomorrow, so stay tuned.
