At the Smart Living 2020 event today, Xiaomi announced the Mi Band 5 and Xiaomi Mi Watch Revolve wearables in India. The event was also used to announce the Xiaomi Mi Smart Speaker. It is the same product that was unveiled as Xiao AI Speaker Art in China last week.
The Xiaomi Mi Smart Speaker supports over 1 million Google Actions since it is powered by Google Assistant. The device supports Hindi and English languages. It has arrived in the Indian market to rival smart speakers from Google and Amazon.
Xiaomi Mi Smart Speaker specifications and features
The Xiaomi Mi Smart Speaker is equipped with a 2.5-inch full range 12W loudspeaker with a 63.5mm driver. It is equipped with a Hi-Fi audio processor and DTS technology. It offers users with three sound output modes – vocal, gentle, and bass. There are two intelligent far-field microphones on the device for accurate voice recognition.
It can be easily paired with devices through Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.2, the latter allowing you to use it as a standalone Bluetooth speaker. Support for Bluetooth Stereo 2.0 is also available, which lets you pair two speakers for a stereo sound expereince.
Apart from listening to music, it can be used to control IoT devices by means of its microphones. It has a metallic body with 10,531 mesh holes. The RGB-lit LED ring on top lights up when a user speaks to the device or when it plays music.
The top edge of the Mi Smart Speaker features a touch panel for controlling volume, a button for enabling / disabling microphone, and a play/pause button. The device can be paired with devices running on Android 4.4 or above and iOS 9.0 or higher.
Xiaomi Mi Smart Speaker price in India
The Xiaomi Mi Smart Speaker is priced at Rs 3,999. The device will be available for purchase for the first time starting from October 1st with an introductory price of Rs 3,499 through Mi.com, Mi Home, and Flipkart. The Mi Smart Speaker comes with 1-year of Gaana subscription worth Rs 999 for free.
