The tweet by the top executive reads, “Du doong! Mi Fans! This is what you have been waiting to hear on Mi TV, India’s No. 1 smart TV. Can you guess what it is? RT and tell me with #MiTV and #SmarterLiving hashtags in the comments. #SmarterLiving 2020: unveiling on 17th September!” While the tweet itself doesn’t reveal anything of substance, the video accompanying the text shows a TV with the text ‘sound on’. Listening to the audio, you can clearly hear the Netflix intro sound, confirming that Xiaomi is finally bringing the popular streaming platform to its TV series.
For the unitiated, Xiaomi’s Mi TVs happen to be some of the most popular offerings in India. Xiaomi recently brought Chromecast support for Prime Video to its Mi TV range, and with the arrival of Netflix, the brand now has most major streaming services under its belt. However, it remains to be seen whether only the newer models will have the Netflix support or if the service will be available for older models as well.
