Xiaomi’s Mi TVs run on the custom PatchWall operating system based on Android TV. Now the Chinese brand has started rolling out a new PatchWall update for Mi TV users in India. The latest version comes with a host of new features. It has started rolling out today and is available for Mi TV 4A, Mi TV 4C Pro, Mi TV 4A Pro, Mi TV 4 Pro, Mi TV 4X and Mi TV 4X Pro. In a statement, Raghu Reddy, Chief Business Officer, Xiaomi India said that ‘With the latest PatchWall 3.0, the company is strengthening “Content first” philosophy with improved curation and discoverability while also making it more convenient with 1 click play experience.’
Xiaomi says that PatchWall 3.0 offers deeper integration with Disney+Hotstar and the new update brings a dedicated sports channel. It will help users discover content and offer a one-click play option for various sports content. Users can stream sports events like Kabbadi, Cricket and Tennis on the dedicated channel. Xiaomi has also introduced two new content partners saying that there are now more than 20 content providers on the PatchWall 3.0 platform. The new content providers include Docubay which will stream international documentaries across a range of topics, and Lattu Kids which will provide over 1,500 hours of content suitable for children. There is also a new feature called Mi List that includes a curated list of movies and TV shows from different genres. Xiaomi says that it is ‘contextually-aware’ and it will recommend content during specific occasions like festivals, days of national importance and more.
Xiaomi has also updated the user interface of its latest PatchWall OS with the latest version. The home screen still looks the same but the new UI enhancements include cleaner animations and a new Mi Lanting Pro font. PatchWall 3.0 places content higher than the input tab. Xiaomi has also enabled horizontal scrolling through different lists.
