Xiaomi had forayed into the smartwatch segment with the launch of Mi Watch earlier this week. It was announced alongside the Mi CC9 Pro and Mi TV 5 series. The smartwatch looks identical to the Apple Watch series in terms of design. It features a square dial, bezel-less display and comes with Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth, and customisable watch faces. Now, according to Chinese Digital Chat Station, a Pro version of the Mi Watch is in the works. However, it may be a couple of months before the smartwatch is announced.
The Mi Watch Pro is expected to sport a circular dial instead of a square one as seen on the standard Mi Watch. With the ‘Pro’ moniker, the smartwatch may reportedly arrive with upgraded specs and features. It is expected to pack powerful internals including the upcoming Snapdragon Wear 3300 SoC. The smartwatch may offer more RAM and internal storage as well. The Mi Watch Pro is also expected to pack a slightly bigger battery and come with wireless charging support. These are just rumored specs of the upcoming device.
The smartwatch may carry forward the rest of the specifications from the original Mi Watch. We expect it to retain the e-SIM capability, NFC, and GPS. The Pro model will also run a custom MIUI based on Google Wear OS. Additionally, it will offer regular features like notifications, music playback, and health tracking.
The regular Mi Watch currently retails at RMB 1,299 (~Rs 13,000). We expect the Pro model to arrive at a price tag of RMB 1,500 (~Rs 15,200). We will know more details as we near the launch event.
