By launching the Poco F1 smartphone today, Xiaomi has introduced its new sub-brand named Poco. The Poco F1 that comes with a launch price of only Rs. 20,999 is the cheapest Snapdragon 845 smartphone in India. Even the highest configuration model of the Poco F1 is priced under Rs. 30,000. In comparison, it is way cheaper than competitor smartphone such as 64 GB Asus ZenFone 5Z that is priced at Rs. 29,999 and 64 GB OnePlus 6 that costs Rs. 34,999. Hence, the Poco F1 is in true sense a flagship killer smartphone.
Xiaomi Poco F1 Specifications and Features
The Xiaomi Poco F1 wears a hard-coated polycarbonate rear shell coupled with a highly durable internal frame. The color variants of Poco F1 are Graphite Black, Steel Blue and Rosso Red. There is a special edition Poco F1 which features a highly durable and attractive rear shell made out of Kevlar Aramid fiber. The handset measures 155.5 x 75.2 x 8.8mm and it weighs 180 grams.
The Poco F1 houses a 6.18-inch IPS LCD notched display that produces up to 500-nits brightness and offers a contrast ratio of 1500:1. The display supports Full HD+ resolution of 2246 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18.7:9 and it is shielded by a layer of Gorilla Glass.
The wide notch of the phone features infrared lens and infrared lighting apart from other sensors for IR facial recognition. Hence, the smartphone can seamless face unlock in dim light conditions.
The Snapdragon 845 is present under the hood of the Poco F1. For heat dissipation, Xiaomi has included liquid cooling technology for controlling the internal temperature of the device. The handset includes up to 8 GB of LPDDRX4 RAM. A big battery of 4,000mAh capacity powers the smartphone. It carries support for 18W fast charging through Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
The handset comes with up to 256 GB UFS 2.1 storage. For more storage, there is a hybrid SIM card slot. It is preloaded with MIUI flavored Android 8.1 Oreo. The MIUI ROM made available for Poco branded phones is a customized version of MIUI found on Xiaomi phones. It includes a new Poco launcher that brings along an improved app drawer that organizes apps in different categories like communication, tools, photography and so on. The handset supports gesture-based navigations and Xiaomi has promised that Poco phones will be provided with faster updates.
The backside of the Poco F1 features Sony IMX363 12-megapixel f/1.9 aperture primary sensor with 1.4micon pixel size. It is accompanied by f/2.0 aperture 5-megapixel secondary sensor. The AI powered dual cameras of the Poco F1 are equipped with features like Portrait mode with blurring background, Dual pixel autofocus, low light enhancement, HDR and EIS for video shooting. The 20-megapixel selfie camera that is placed inside the notch of the phone supports AI scene detection, AI Beauty and AI face recognition.
The immersive audio experience, the Poco F1 is equipped with Dirac HD Sound and dual Smart PA. The other features of the Poco F1 are rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C and 3.5mm headphone port.
Xiaomi Poco F1 Pricing and Availability
The first sale of the Xiaomi Poco F1 will take place on 29th August at 12 PM on Mi.com and Flipkart. The 64 GB storage + 6 GB RAM, 128 GB storage + 6 GB RAM and 256 GB storage + 8 GB RAM variants of the Poco F1 are respectively priced at Rs. 20,999, Rs. 23,999 and Rs. 28,999. The Armoured Edition model that also include 256 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM is priced at Rs. 29,999.
Reliance Jio users who purchase the Poco F1 can avail up to Rs. 8,000 instant benefits and up to 6 TB of data. On the first sale day, HDFC credit card users can take advantage of a flat discount of Rs. 1,000 on Poco F1 variants except for the Armoured Edition model.
