Xiaomi has finally expanded its affordable Redmi lineup by launching the Redmi 4. As reported previously, Xiaomi had an event scheduled in China where it made this whole new Redmi phone official. The device features a metal unibody design which restricts direct access to phone’s internals. Interestingly, Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 4 in two variants — standard and high-end. This comes as a surprise since it was not expected of Xiaomi to unveil the Redmi 4 in two variants.
First, let’s talk about the Xiaomi Redmi 4 standard variant. It sports a 5-inch screen featuring 1280 x 720 pixels Full HD resolution. Furthermore, the display accompanies 2.5D curved glass on top. Powering this variant is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 quad-core processor which clocks up to 1.5GHz. For graphics and video processing, there is Adreno 505 GPU. Assisting the processor is 2GB of RAM. This phone features 16GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
The other high-end variant also has a 5-inch touchscreen display with 2.5D curved glass. However, the only difference in terms of display is that it sports 1080p Full HD resolution unlike 720p on the standard variant. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2GHz in addition to 3GB RAM and Adreno 506 GPU. It has 32GB of storage capacity which is expandable up to 128GB through microSD card.
Both the variants house a 13-megapixel rear snapper with dual-tone LED flash and PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus). The camera can record 1080p Full HD videos. Xiaomi also offers a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for all the selfie lovers out there. Other than that, there is a fingerprint scanner on the back which is placed right below the camera module. Both these Xiaomi phones run MIUI8 on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. Under the hood, these Dual-SIM phones pack in a 4100mAh battery.
Available in Gold, Silver, and Grey colour options, the Xiaomi Redmi costs 699 Yuan (approximately Rs 6,900) for standard variant and 899 Yuan (approximately Rs 8,880) for the high-end variant. This phone will be available in China starting November 11th. We are yet to confirm the arrival of Redmi 4 in India. Stay tuned to Pricebaba for more such updates!
