Xiaomi has silently introduced the Redmi 6 Pro and Mi Pad 4 by listing them on the official Mi.com website in China. The major highlight of the Redmi 6 Pro is that it features a notched display that offers a larger screen space compared to the predecessor Redmi 6 phones. On the other side, the Mi Pad 4 is equipped with the powerful Snapdragon 660 SoC and a slimmer design for using it with single hand.
Redmi 6 Pro Specifications and Features
The Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro joins the Redmi 6 family that includes Redmi 6 and 6A smartphones that were made official on June 12. The handset that sports a metallic rear can be availed in colors like Rose Gold, Sand Gold, Lake Blue, Stone Black and Flame Red. The dimensions of the Redmi 6 Pro are 149.33 x 71.68 x 8.75mm and it weighs 178 grams.
The Redmi 6 Pro features a 5.84-inch IPS LCD display that produces FHD+ resolution and an aspect ratio of 19:9. The display features a notch like the iPhone X. However, there is a setting available for it that allow users to disable the notch by blackening the screen areas on its left and right sides.
The Snapdragon 625 SoC is present under the hood of the Redmi 6 Pro. It comes in up to 4 GB of RAM and up to 64 GB of storage. It has a dedicated microSD card. A massive battery of 4,000mAh capacity is present inside the Redmi 6 Pro that comes with support for 5V/2A charging.
The rear panel of the Redmi 6 Pro is flanked with a dual camera setup that includes a primary sensor 12-megapixel primary and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.2 apertures. The camera features available on the Redmi 6 Pro include AI portrait mode, bokeh effect, night scene enhancement, HDR, EIS and FHD video shooting. It has a selfie camera of 5-megapixel that is equipped with features like HDR, AI portrait mode, AI smart beauty, and AI face unlock.
The handset is preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo that is overlaid with MIUI 9 skin. The connectivity features available on the Redmi 6 Pro include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, microUSB 2.0 and 3.5mm audio jack. The Redmi 6 and 6A smartphones lack IR blaster whereas the advanced Redmi 6 Pro features it.
Mi Pad 4 Specifications and Features
The Mi Pad 4 is the successor for the Mi Pad 3 tablet from last year. It can be availed in Black and Gold colors. The new tablet from Xiaomi measures 200.2 x 120.3 x 7.9mm and weighs 342.5 grams. It is slimmer than Mi Pad 3 that measures 132.6mm in width. It is fitted with an 8-inch display that offers an aspect ratio of 16:10.
The Mi Pad 4 is the first tablet ever to be powered by Snapdragon 660 mobile platform. The SoC that features an octa-core processor that clocks at 2.2 GHz is present under the hood of the Mi Pad 4. The tablet comes with up to 4 GB of RAM and up to 64 GB of storage. The Mi Pad 3 lacked an external storage feature, but the successor model has arrived with a microSD card slot. It is packed with a large battery of 6,000mAh capacity.
The MIUI 9 based Android 8.1 Oreo is preinstalled on the Mi Pad 4. In China, Xiaomi is offering exclusive content through local media channels along with live TV support Mi Video app. The Mi Pad 4 is equipped with f/2.0 aperture and HDR enabled 13-megapixel rear camera and f/2.0 aperture 5-megapixel front-facing camera with HDR, beauty mode and face recognition.
The Mi Pad 4 comes in two models such as Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + LTE. Both the variants support dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5mm audio jack and USB-C. The LTE model also carries support for GPS. This variant feature only a single SIM card slot.
Redmi 6 Pro, Mi Pad 4 Pricing and Availability
The storage and RAM variants of Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro are as follows 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM, 32 GB storage + 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM. The models are respectively priced at 999 Yuan (~Rs. 10,400), 1,199 Yuan (~Rs. 12,500) and 1,299 Yuan (~Rs. 13,550) in China. It will be available for buying in the home country from tomorrow.
The Wi-Fi only edition of the Mi Pad 4 can be availed in two versions such 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM and 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM. Both the versions are respectively priced at 1,099 Yuan (~Rs. 11,450) and 1,399 Yuan (~Rs. 14,600). The LTE model features an internal storage of 64 GB and 4 GB of RAM. It is priced at 1,499 Yuan (~Rs. 15,650). The tablet will be available for purchase in China from June 29.
It is speculated that the Redmi 6 series may debut in next two or three months in India. However, there is no information available on whether Xiaomi will be bringing the Mi Pad 4 to India.
