Xiaomi Redmi 7 with 6.26-inch Display and Snapdragon 632 launched in China

Xiaomi has unveiled the Redmi 7 phone in China. The major highlights of the phone include tall aspect ratio display, gradient colour body, dual cameras and an affordable price tag. The Redmi 7 was not the only smartphone that was unveiled in China today. The Redmi Note 7 Pro that was made official at the end of the previous month was also announced in the home country today.

Xiaomi Redmi 7 Specifications and Features

The Xiaomi Redmi 7 comes with a polycarbonate body with a gradient colour finish and measures 158.65 x 76.43 x 8.47mm. The device weighs 180 grams. The smartphone is fitted with a TUV Rheinland certified 6.26-inch IPS LCD panel that effectively suppresses the emission of blue rays that are harmful for eyes. The waterdrop-style notch of the phone allows it to offer HD+ resolution of 720 x 1,520 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

The Redmi 7 is powered by a Snapdragon 632 chipset. It is assisted by up to 4GB of RAM. It comes with inbuilt storage of up to 64GB of storage. There is a hybrid SIM slot that supports a microSD card as well. The device runs Android 9 Pie customised with MIUI 10. There is a 4,000mAh battery inside the phone. Equipped with AI smart power saving features, the Redmi 7 promises 400 hours of standby time.

The top-left corner of the Redmi 7 has an f/1.29 aperture 12-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera setup on its rear. The selfie notch has an 8-megapixel front camera. For security, the Redmi 7 is equipped with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and AI face unlock feature. The other features available on the device include dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, microUSB 2.0, IR blaster and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Xiaomi Redmi 7 Price and Availability

The Redmi 7 has landed in China in three variants of 2GB RAM + 16GB storage, 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. These models are priced at 699 Yuan (~Rs 7,200), 799 Yuan (~Rs 8,200) and 899 Yuan (~Rs 9,200) respectively. The smartphone can be availed in Black, Red and Blue colour variants. Pre-orders of the Redmi 7 start today in China followed by the market release on March 26th. There is no word on the Indian launch of the Redmi 7 yet.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro Launched in China

The Redmi Note 7 Pro features a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display with waterdrop notch and 4,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging through USB-C like the Redmi Note 7. The glass-bodied Note 7 Pro comes with Snapdragon 675 SoC, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 + 5-megapixel dual camera setup and 13-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro is priced at 1,599 Yuan (~Rs 16,350) in China. In India, the Note 7 Pro is available in two models of 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. They are available for Rs 13,999 and Rs 16,999 respectively. The handset is available in colours like Neptune Blue, Nebula Red and Space Black in the home market.
