Xiaomi Redmi 7A to Launch in India on July 4th

In May, the Xiaomi Redmi 7A went official in China. The company hinted that the entry-level phone would be soon made available in India. Today, Xiaomi has confirmed through a tweet that it will be launching the Redmi 7A phone on July 4th. The smartphone will be sold on Flipkart.

Flipkart has a microsite for the upcoming Redmi 7A smartphone. The smartphone is being dubbed as “Smart Desh Ka Smartphone.” The microsite has no information on the pricing of the phone. However, it reveals that it will be equipped with a Facebook-ready camera and it will offer long-lasting performance. The smartphone will be released as a stripped-down version of the Redmi 7 smartphone that had gone official in India in April.

While the Redmi 7A is expected to arrive with the exact same specs as its Chinese edition, Xiaomi India Managing Director and Global VP, Manu Kumar Jain had recently that its Indian version will have a “massive” new feature. He has hinted that it something was made available on Redmi Note 7 and Xiaomi Mi A2 smartphones and it is not offered by any other smartphone brand under the Rs 20,000 segment.

The Redmi 7A smartphone features a 5.45-inch IPS LCD display that offers an 18:9 aspect ratio and full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,160 pixels. The Snapdragon 439 chipset is present under the hood of the phone with 2GB of RAM. It comes with 16GB / 32GB of built-in storage and there is a microSD card slot for expansion.

MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie takes care of the software. It has a rear camera of 13-megapixels and a front shooter of 5-megapixels. The handset houses a 4,000mAh battery. The polycarbonate body of the Redmi 7A has a P2i splash-resistant coating. In China, the 2GB RAM + 16GB storage and 2GB RAM + 32GB storage versions of the smartphone are priced at 549 Yuan (~Rs 5,520) and 599 Yuan (~Rs 6,000) respectively.

Xiaomi has recently revealed that it has sold 23.6 million units of Redmi A series phones including the Redmi 4A, Redmi 5A and Redmi 6A in India. The Redmi 7A is also expected to be a big seller for the brand.
