Xiaomi Redmi 7A with Snapdragon 439 and 13MP Camera Launched in China

Xiaomi has discreetly announced the Redmi 7A in China. It is the latest entry-level smartphone from the company that has arrived as the successor to the Redmi 6A from last year. The handset comes with some key features like a 4,000mAh battery, Snapdragon 439 and 13-megapixel rear camera.

Redmi 7A Specifications and Features

The Redmi 7A sports a polycarbonate body that measures 146.30 x 70.41 x 9.55mm and weighs 150 grams. It houses a 5.45-inch IPS LCD panel that offers a 18:9 aspect ratio and HD+ resolution of 720 x 1,440 pixels. According to the company, the Redmi 7A offers good sunlight visibility and comes with with an eye protection mode to filter the harmful blue rays emitted by the display.

The Snapdragon 439 chipset powers the phone. The RAM and storage variants of the Redmi 7A haven’t been revealed as yet, but there is a dedicated microSD card slot on the device for additional storage up to 256GB. The smartphone is packed with a 4,000mAh battery that carries support for 10W charging.

The back panel of the Redmi 7A houses a 13-megapixel camera with LED flash. The camera comes with features such as PDAF, AI beauty and AI background blur. The front of the phone features a 5-megapixel selfie camera. There is no fingerprint scanner on the device. Redmi 7A owners can rely on face unlock for user authentication instead.

The other features of the Redmi 7A include dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, microUSB 2.0 and a 3.5mm audio jack. MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie comes preinstalled on the device. The phone comes with a P2i splash-resistant coating along with rubber sleeves for the headphone jack, microUSB port and SIM card tray.

Redmi 7A Price and Release Date

The Redmi 7A comes in two colour options of Black and Blue. Xiaomi will be announcing the variants and price of the smartphone on May 28th. The Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro flagship phones are expected to be launched in China on the same day.

[Update: May 28th]: At the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro launch in China today, Xiaomi announced the price of the Redmi 7A. The phone comes in two variants – 2GB + 16GB and 2GB + 32GB, and is priced at 549 Yuan (~Rs 5,540) and 599 Yuan (~Rs 6,050) respectively.
