Xiaomi has announced the launch date of Redmi 8A in India. The device is the successor to the Redmi 7A (review) and is expected to be a major upgrade. The device hasn’t been launched in China yet so, India will be the first country to receive it. The launch is set for September 25th.

Xiaomi Redmi 8A: leaked specifications and features
Recently, the Redmi 8A was leaked on TENAA and most of its specifications were revealed. The leak suggested a 6.2-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch on top and 720 x 1,520 pixels resolution. The screen is also expected to have a 19:9 aspect ratio. Xiaomi’s tweet has also shown a waterdrop notch with a selfie camera placed inside it. Performance-wise, the Redmi 8A is expected to pack a 2GHz octa-core processor with 2GB RAM + 16GB storage, 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variants. The internal storage would be expandable by up to 512GB via a microSD card.
The phone is expected to feature a single rear camera with a 12MP sensor and an LED Flash. For selfie enthusiasts, the device could pack an 8MP sensor on the front. It could also have a 5,000mAh battery capacity with support for 18W Fast Charging. The Redmi 8A is likely to run Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10 on top. It is expected to land in various colour options including Black, Blue, Green, Grey, Purple, Pink, Red and White.
Redmi 8A: expected price and availability
The device is expected to launch with an affordable price tag like its predecessor, which was launched at a starting price of Rs 5,999.
