Xiaomi has been very aggressive when it comes to retaining its dominant position in the budget smartphone market. Today the company has launched Xiaomi Redmi Go 16GB variant and priced it at Rs 4,799. The Redmi Go 16GB will be available on Flipkart, mi.com, Mi Home Stores and Amazon India.
The Redmi Go is Xiaomi’s most affordable offering in India. The device comes fitted with a 5-inch HD display with an aspect ratio of 16:9. Under the hood lies a Snapdragon 425 SoC, clocked at 1.4GHz and paired with 1GB of RAM. On the storage front, the Redmi Go offers 8GB/16GB of internal storage which is further expandable up to 128GB via the microSD card slot.
The Xiaomi Redmi Go is powered by Android Go which is in turn based on Android Oreo. The imaging department includes an 8-megapixel primary rear camera with LED flash, Auto-HDR and scene mode detection. In the front, the Redmi Go comes equipped with a 5-megapixel camera. The device is backed by a generous 3,000mAh battery and is rated to offer 12.5 hours of 4G calling with 10 days of standby.
Connectivity options on the Redmi Go include Wi-Fi, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.1, dual-SIM card slots, micro-USB and a 3.5mm audio jack. It is also worth mentioning that Redmi Go supports 20 regional languages and this means you can use Google Assistant in Hindi. The new Xiaomi Redmi Go variant comes at a small premium but the doubled storage is worth the extra price.
Android Go is specifically designed for a better experience in an entry-level smartphone. As part of the optimisation process, Google keeps a tight leash on app size, optimises memory usage, and requires the app/game to start in less than 5 seconds.
