Xiaomi Redmi Go Expected to Launch in India on March 19th

Xiaomi has confirmed through a press invite that it will be holding a launch event on March 19th. The #MiForYou hashtag along with “Go” text on the invite suggests that the company could be launching the Redmi Go smartphone in India next week.

The Redmi Go is the first Android Go phone from the company. The smartphone that is packed with entry-level specs was unveiled globally few months ago. The specifications of the Redmi Go suggests that it will be positioned lower than the Redmi 6A that is now selling with a price tag of Rs 5,999 in the country.

The Xiaomi Redmi Go comes with a 5-inch display that sports a 16:9 aspect ratio and HD resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. The screen of the phone is surrounded by thick bezels. The Snapdragon 427 and Adreno 308 graphics powers the device. Like other Android Go phones, the Redmi Go also features 1GB of RAM.

There is no confirmation on whether the Redmi Go for India will come with Android 9 Pie or the Android 8.1 Oreo edition of Android Go. The handset includes inbuilt storage of 8GB and it features a microSD card slot for extra space.

The Redmi Go offers users an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. It carries support for LED flash and autofocus. Sitting on the front is a selfie snapper of 5-megapixels with f/2.2 aperture. The smartphone is packed with a 3,000mAh battery. The usual connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, microUSB, VoLTE, dual SIM support and a 3.5mm audio jack are available on the Redmi Go.

At the time of writing, there are no details available on the pricing of the Redmi Go. Also, there is no confirmation on whether the company will be announcing any other phone alongside the Redmi Go on March 19th.
