Xiaomi Announces Its First Android Go Smartphone, the Redmi Go

Xiaomi has announced the Redmi Go smartphone through its official Twitter account. It is the company’s first Android Go phone and comes with entry-level specs.

The Redmi Go features a 5-inch display that features HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. A quad-core unspecified Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.4 GHz powers the smartphone. It is fueled by a 3,000mAh battery.

The rear of the Redmi Go features an 8-megapixel camera, and on its front is a 5-megapixel selfie snapper. The smartphone will be available in Black and Blue colours.

Notable tipster Roland Quandt leaked the key specs of the Redmi Go recently. He revealed that the phone is equipped with a 16:9 aspect ratio display and loaded with the Go edition of Android 8.1 Oreo.

Since it is an Android Go phone, the handset will be aimed towards developing markets. However, the company is yet to confirm on the different markets that will be receiving the Redmi Go smartphone.

Update: Xiaomi Redmi Go is now available on pre-orders in Philippines with a price tag of PHP 3,990 (~Rs. 5,450). Its shipments will begin in the country from February 5.
