The Redmi K40 will arrive as the successor to last year’s Redmi K30. Ahead of the launch, key specifications of the upcoming offering have been teased on Weibo. Like its predecessor, we can expect two variants in the Redmi K40 lineup.
Redmi K40 launch date confirmed
Apart from the launch date, the Weibo post mentions that the Redmi K40 will feature a new design, new positioning, a new experience and a surprise announcement.
In a separate teaser, Weibing revealed that the Redmi K40 series will come with a centre-aligned punch-hole display compared to pill-shaped cutout and pop-up selfie camera on the Redmi K30 and K30 Pro. He added that the punch-hole will be the smallest in the world. Another highlight of the upcoming phone is that it will be equipped with dual stereo speakers.
Weibing had also revealed in one of his Weibo post that the Redmi K40 series (likely the Pro model) will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 processor, feature the ‘most expensive flat display’ and a battery larger than 4,000mAh. It will be priced starting at RMB 2,999 (~Rs 33,900).
Apart from the teasers, the Redmi K40 and K40 Pro were spotted on China’s 3C certification website last week. While the Pro model will likely feature a Snapdragon 888 SoC, the standard variant is tipped to be powered by Snapdragon 7xx processor with support for 5G.
