Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has launched a new colour variant of its most popular phone in India – the Redmi Note 4. The new colour variant is launched to support the company’s initiative ‘Wake the Lake’. This initiative stands under the Swatch Bharat Abhiyan for lake restoration in Bengaluru.
Xiaomi has said that a part of the proceeds gained from selling this smartphone will be used to support such initiatives. Redmi Note 4 is a high-selling device and a new colour option might be lucrative for users as well. The phone has a 5.5-inch Full HD display, runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 and houses 13MP and 5MP cameras in the front and rear respectively. It has a massive 4,100mAH battery which is quite efficient as well.
Explaining the initiative further, Xiaomi’s Vice President and Xiaomi India’s Managing Director, Manu Kumar Jain said, “We are a company who believes in giving back to the community. Water bodies have been the source of water for ages for people of Bengaluru but over the past decade, these water bodies have been facing serious threat. To show our concern for the cause we are taking up the maintenance of Kempabudhi kere, to support BBMP in bringing it back to its initial days of glory as a project under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. To commemorate this cause, we are launching Redmi Note 4 Lake Blue edition which would further contribute to this cause.”
The Redmi Note 4 Lake Blue edition will only be available in 4GB RAM/64GB storage version. It will be priced at Rs. 12,999. The special edition phone can be bought through Flipkart or Mi.com if you are looking to purchase it online. The online sale will begin at 12PM on 4th September. For those who want to purchase it offline can head to any of the Mi Home stores or other partner retail stores.
This seems like a great move from Xiaomi in order to raise awareness and contribute towards good initiatives.
