Xiaomi has established a strong foothold in India’s smartphone market. The company offers feature packed phones at an affordable price range. But one drawback of Xiaomi smartphones is that they are sold through flash sales which is quite frustrating.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro is one of the most popular Xiaomi smartphones. Now the company is finally putting an end to the weekly flash sales, six months after its launch. Both the 4GB & 6GB RAM variants of Redmi Note 5 Pro will be available through open sale on Flipkart and Mi.com, Xiaomi’s own e-commerce platform. Open sale means that consumers won’t have to wait for the weekly flash sale and register for purchase before the sale timings. This is a good news to the fans who couldn’t purchase the phone since stocks get sold out in minutes during a flash sale.
To recall the specifications, the Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched in February 2018. The device sports a 5.99-inch FHD bezel-less display with a Gorilla Glass fitted on the top for protection against damages. The fingerprint scanner is located on the back. The device comes in four attractive colors i.e. Black, Gold, Rose Gold and Lake Blue.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro packs a dual rear camera setup comprising of a 12MP Sony sensor and 5MP depth sensor. The vertical camera setup is identical to Apple’s iPhone X. On the front, there is a 20MP sensor paired with an LED flash that aids in better pictures in low light. The Note 5 Pro is the first device from Xiaomi that offers face unlock feature.
In terms of performance, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset coupled with either 4GB or 6GB RAM. Both the RAM variants offer 64GB internal memory and can be expanded upto 128GB via microSD card. Out of the box, the device runs on Android 7.1 Nougat OS upgradeable to 8.0 Oreo. Xiaomi has added its custom MIUI 9.2 OS that offers customization options. Like other Xiaomi devices, this one too comes with an IR Blaster that lets you connect the phone with home appliances like TV’s and Air Conditioner.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro draws its power from a 4000 mAh battery unit with support for fast charging. It offers dual SIM functionalities and connectivity options on the device include 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, WiFi, Bluetooth & VoLTE.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro 4GB variant costs Rs 14,999 whereas the higher 6GB variant has a price tag of Rs 16,999. Earlier, Asus also started selling its recently released Zenfone Max Pro M1 via open sale. With Redmi Note 5 Pro joining the open sale system, the competition is likely to heat up in the budget segment market.
