Xiaomi took the wraps of the Redmi Note 6 Pro in Thailand in September. The company has now launched the device in India as the successor to Redmi Note 5 Pro. Let’s take a look at what the new Note 6 Pro has to offer:
Display & Design:
Beginning with the display, the Redmi Note 6 Pro sports a 6.26-inch FHD+ display as compared to 5.99-inch screen on Note 5 Pro. The resolution roughly translates to 403 PPI pixel density. The Note 6 Pro also features a notch on the top that houses a dual selfie camera, notification light and ambient/proximity sensors. The display is shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass for protection against accidental damage and scratches. Design-wise, the Note 6 Pro will be available in three color variants i.e. Black, Rose Gold, Blue, and Red. A vertically aligned dual camera setup is located on the back at the top left corner. The device also has a rear mounted fingerprint scanner
The striking feature of the Redmi Note 6 Pro is its quad-camera setup. The device is equipped with dual cameras on the front and rear. The rear camera module consists of a 12MP main sensor and 5MP depth sensor with f/1.9 aperture for better low light photography. Upfront, the camera setup comprises of a 20MP primary and a 2MP secondary sensor. The Note 6 Pro also supports AI-based face unlock through the front camera. Xiaomi has also added various camera features like AI scene detection, Bokeh mode, Studio Lighting, and Light trails. The front camera carries AI Portrait Mode 2.0 as well as AI Beauty.
Hardware, OS & Battery:
The Note 6 Pro retains the same hardware specifications as its predecessor. The device is equipped with a Snapdragon 636 chipset clocked at 1.8GHz. It is paired with an Adreno 509 GPU onboard. The device is available in two RAM configurations i.e. 4GB and 6GB. Both the RAM variants offer 64GB internal storage and can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card slot.
The Redmi Note 6 Pro ships with MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The latest software version brings a new user interface, natural sound system and full-screen gesture-based experience. The Note 6 Pro is powered by the same 4,000mAh battery unit as its predecessor that is capable of lasting up to two days. It supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 for fast charging.
